The full moon brought the shells back to our favorite beach and the last three days has been easy pickin’s. I suppose we have about ten pounds of pukas, glass, shell shards and other beach treasures. We have yet to find the treasured Sunrise Shell. A guy on the beach today claimed that sunrise shellers come out in the middle of the night with flashlights to catch the tide change. All I know is that we could have kept picking all day.
Finally, though, your back and then your knees give out. When I close my eyes at night all I see is shell beds and the spiral of the puka.
