In the summer of 1985, a short time before the bliss hit the fan at The Ranch, our little family, on our way from Yakima to Ashland made a side trip to Rajneeshpurnam. My brother Bart was with us and he had a couple of friends living at The Ranch he wanted to see. We took an exit off Highway 97 and drove down a winding grade into a picturesque western valley into what had been the town of Antelope.
This trip piqued my fascination for the Bhagwan and his story and compels me to buy books written about that strange period of Oregon and US history. My Life in Orange is such a book. To read the review click

What I remember most about visiting Rajneeshpurnam was the little general store. It had all sorts of veggie products and beverages, etc. But it also sold porno mags, condoms and, weirdly enough, rubber gloves (which was one of the safe sex accoutraments advocated by the Baghwan for random couplings). This reminded me of the full-body condom from some movie--maybe a Woody Allen flick? Bizarre shit. Oh, and Sunny was hot! Still is!
