Sometimes real events form a nearly perfect short story. That was the case about ten years ago when my friend and contractor Rick and I were remodeling our house in Ashland and had to go to White City to find some salvaged beams. We met up with the Big Dog and his sidekick Roger and learned that every work group forms a small society and a pecking order with its own little dramas. I also learned that everyone can do something and, as a result, maintain a modicum of dignity. You can read this story (which I’ve been seasoning in my trunk for several years) by clicking here.
The story is great! You should get it published.
