Up until recently I knew the name of everyone who read this blog. But then something happened. Strangers started dropping by. The number of hits jumped and then jumped again. Inadvertently, I had attracted folks to the site through the use of certain key words. Early last month I noticed searches for “Mary Roche” the very strange girl who auditioned for American Idol. “Beth Smith” who is wife of Dog the Bounty Hunter garnered some surprising attention. “Toenail fungus” grabbed a first page listing on Technorati.com. There is a certain morbid interest in the fungus, you know. “Jason Mraz” apparently has many fans with nothing better to do than search Yahoo for more to read about Jason. (By the way, if you are going to buy one of his albums get “Live at Java Joe’s. It’ a five star performance). Then I made the horrible mistake of using the phrase “little boys” in a post. Bloggers. Do not make this error or your site will be contaminated by bottom crawling cretinous creatures googling for salacious material to sate their unspeakable cravings. I’m sure that Cole’s photo scared them off. I suspect a few old folks using their local library’s internet connection and getting help from the Reference Librarian were interested to read a bit more about “Sandra Dee.” However, if you are a blogger and not getting much notice. If you feel the need for some attention; some hits as we say in the blogosphere, then write something up on “Project Runway.” There are, according to Linda’s research, some 48,000 blogs about Project Runway. That is, where Project Runway is the subject of the blog. Yet, our little article has kept the hit count clicking away for three days now. It will not abate. One could become a lazy blogger and say to one’s readers, “Oh, just read the damn thing about Project Runway again.” We will not do that. We will try and think of something else to blog about. We will be a bit more boring and try to hone our readership back down to that list where we know the first and middle names of our readers. If you have become a regular visitor, thanks for the visit. We appreciate the attention but can guarantee that R Blog will continue to provide way more than you really want to know.
